Solution:
Everyone wants to be safe in their own home. We buy all kinds of safety devices, but there are some things that you may not have thought of. Here is a checklist.

1. Have a list of emergency numbers by the phone and let even the smallest family members know how important it is. List 9-1-1 first and include doctors, close family and poison control. If you have smaller children you may even want to put pictures by the number so kids know exactly who they're calling.

2. Check large glass panels like patio door and shower doors for safety glass labeling. It is located in a lower corner and will have the manufacturer, the type of glass and its thickness. All large panels should be made of safety glass.

3. Have a step stool on each level of your home. This way no one will be tempted to climb on an unstable chair to hang a picture or reach something on a high shelf.

4. Check handrails on all staircases in your home. A loose handrail can cause a nasty fall. If you find a damaged railing, make any necessary repairs right away.

5. Stock a home survival kit in case of emergencies. Include bottled water, non -perishable food, a battery operated radio, batteries, a flashlight, a first aid kit and blankets.
