| Solution: |
| I'm sure every kitchen has a cutting board or two, but which one do you use for what job or how do you clean and disinfect them. Well I'll tell you. |
| |
|
| 1.
Prevent contamination by always using a different cutting board for meats and for vegetables. Use a plastic rather than a wood cutting board for meats as they're easier to clean and disinfect. |
| |
| 2.
When making a meal, I recommend cutting and prepping vegetables and getting them out of the way before you move on to the meats. Wood cutting board is the perfect choice for breads and veggies. |
| |
| 3.
To disinfect a wooden cutting board, mix three tablespoons of bleach and a quarter cup of warm water. Pour it over the board and let it sit for a few minutes. Then wash the board with hot soapy water. This also works on knives with wooden handles. |
| |
| 4.
To keep your wood cutting boards looking their best, treat them with mineral oil every once in a while to keep them from drying out.
|
| |
| 5.
After using a plastic cutting board, your best line of defense against bacteria is the dishwasher. No dishwasher, just use the bleach and water mixture and then rinse it with boiling water. |
| |
| 6.
Make sure you replace your cutting boards when they have excessive wear or deep grooves you can't clean. I'm Mrs. Fixit and it's just that simple.
