Bowl of Salted Water
Fresh Bread
Hand Grater
Salted Ice Water
Baking Dish
Solution:
If you want to know whether food is fresh, or just need some tricks in the kitchen, here are some really easy ones that should help you out!

1. If you're not sure whether your eggs are still fresh, place the eggs one single layer at a time into a bowl of salted water. If the eggs float or if they turn wide end up they are no good. Throw them away.

2. If you're not sure if that egg is hard boiled, spin it on the counter. A hard boiled egg will spin round and round, a raw egg will wobble all over.

3. If your brown sugar has turned hard as a rock, stick a piece of fresh bread into the container with it and close it for a couple of days. If you need that sugar now, all you have to do is grab the hunk and grate it on your hand grater until you have enough for your recipe.
