| Solution: |
| Extending the life of foods in your fridge can save you time and money. Well, I have some tips to help you do just that! |
| |
|
| 1.
To keep your cheese from getting moldy, store it in an airtight container with a couple of sugar cubes, the sugar absorbs moisture and keeps the cheese fresher, longer.
|
| |
| 2.
If you pick up some cheese because it's on sale but you know you won't use it right away, pop it in the freezer it keeps for a year or longer and it's easy to grate when it's frozen! |
| |
| 3.
How many times have you needed a half an onion for a recipe but then forgot about the other half in the fridge? Dice the whole onion and store whatever you don't need in a zip top bag in the freezer, then it's right there the next time you need it. |
| |
| 4.
Fresh herbs wilt fast if left to their own devices, so when you get the home, rinse them, wrap loosely in a damp paper towel and seal it in a zip top storage bag. |
| |
| 5.
Another key to keeping food fresher, keep moisture to a minimum in the fridge, there are a couple of ways to do this, just fold some newspapers and put them in the bottom of your crisper drawers and then cover with paper towels. Also keep a box of baking soda in your fridge to absorb moisture and odors! |
