| Solution: |
| If you have a drop ceiling, you'd like it removed, but you're intimidated somewhat to take it down. |
| |
|
| 1.
Safety. Put on a dust mask and a pair of safety glasses, those tiles more than likely have a bunch of dust and dirt settled on them. So remove or cover anything you don't want to get dirty. |
| |
| 2.
Carefully remove all of the ceiling tiles. Try not to tip them too much, this way you'll keep a lot of the dust in place. A tip, pile the tiles on a plastic drop cloth it will make it a lot easier to get them out later! |
| |
| 3.
Use a utility knife to score around the perimeter of the room to minimize damage to the wall. |
| |
| 4.
Use a wire cutter to snip all the support wires that hold the grid in place. Remove any of the pieces of the grid that are loose as you snip those wires. |
| |
| 5.
Take the grid down; the pieces should separate easily from one another. |
| |
| 6.
Unscrew the eyelets that were holding the wires. |
| |
| 7.
The final step, if it didn't come down with the grid is to remove the "L" bracket that held the grid along the perimeter of the room. |
| |
| 8.
Look how much this opened up the space. Now all you have to do is put in the new ceiling. |
